I tried using essential oils the first night but Tammy was in so much distress because her skin was raw and bloody and she was itching like a dog with fleas, that I decided to calm her skin down using some topical steroids and made her wear the wet suit for 3 hours first. The next day, I continued with the topical steroids and wet suit. Finally on the third day, when her skin was not so painful anymore, I decided to revisit the essential oils again. I used doTERRA Lavender oil on all the red parts (which was practically the whole body) and doTERRA Peppermint oil on her itchy spots. I applied doTERRA Balance blended oil on the soles of her feet and also diffused lavender to give her a better night’s rest. At the same time, I stopped using the topical steroids completely.
I think pictures speak a thousand words, so see the results for yourself.
A few years ago, I attended a seminar which opened up my eyes to the possibility of running my own business. After that, the desire to strike it out on my own, to make a difference in the world, grew stronger day by day. Eventually, the initial seeds of entrepreneurship grew into saplings and I [...]
I talk to my daughter quite a lot. She simply loves listening stories, real stories, as she would put it, and not fictional ones. Or stories with a lesson to learn. You’ll be amazed at the number of stories I made up just to teach her some values.
As endearing as she can be, she [...]
Three weeks ago, I attended a three-and-a-half-day program which transformed my life dramatically.
Having invested in several self-development programs, this was truly a stark contrast to any thing I have ever attended. There was no fancy stage lighting, no music, no dramatic fire-walking, arrow-breaking or the like, no emotional roller coaster rides of highs and [...]
Last Monday, 18 April 2011, Tammy underwent a minor operation to remove a wart. Besides eczema, Tammy has been afflicted with warts.
For the uninitiated, warts are small, usually painless growths on the skin caused by a virus. Warts are generally harmless, but they can disfigure and be embarrassing. Sometimes, they itch or hurt (particularly [...]
Last Saturday, 2 April 2011, marked a huge milestone in Tammy’s life.
For more than 6 years, she had been allergic to eggs and seafood as confirmed by allergy prick tests done when she was younger. About a month ago, after we finally got her persistent eczema under control, we had another test done – [...]
When Tammy was in Learning Vision (LV), she was ostracized by some of her classmates due to her eczema. (See previous post Bullies In School,) When she finally left LV, got her eczema under control and entered primary school this year, I thought, Great! She’ll have a fresh start and [...]
So the one-week March holiday break just ended and I spent so much time with Tammy! I guess for some parents, a holiday break can spell fear – What do I do with the kids? How do I keep them occupied? Unless you have a domestic helper or someone to help look after your child [...]
When Tammy left her childcare centre Learning Vision last year, she left her contact details with her classmates. So far only one friend wrote back – Audrey Tan.
Audrey is possibly Tammy’s best friend when she was in Learning Vision. As her skin condition was really bad back then, she was ostracized by a number [...]
Tammy’s been in school for almost a month now! Although she says she enjoys school, she hasn’t made that many friends yet. She’s rather shy and takes a while to warm up but we’re hopeful that given time, she’ll make more friends in school. School work still seems to be manageable… in fact, she hardly [...]
